FoodMachine Event April 13th

Postby PressGanger » 24 Feb 2014, 21:51

Hey everyone. I'll be running a day long FoodMachine style event on April 13th. The event will last from noon to 7pm. There is no entry fee but players who bring food to donate will be able to use "cheats" throughout the day. The winner at the end of the day is the person who has the most Control Points accumulated.

Scenario: Place an objective 12" from the center of each table edge and place a 12" circle in the center of the board. A player gains control of an objective if the player has a model base to base with the objective and no enemy models within 4" of the objective. Once a player gains control of an objective, he maintains control of it until an opponent is able to gain control of it. Players gain 1 Control Point at the end of their turn for each objective that they control and 2 Control Points if their caster is completely within the 12" circle.

4 players will play on a table at the same time. Deployment is 12" x 12" in the corner of the board. Each player plays 25pts in a 6 minute timed turn (time starts after continuous effects are resolved). When a warcaster/warlock is assassinated, the player removes his pieces from the table, loses half of his control points and another player replaces him at the table. The new players models cannot be targeted by attacks, actions, affected by feats or damaged by any means until they have a turn.

For each can donated, players will have 1 coin to spend throughout the day. When a player wants to use a “cheat”, they announce the “cheat” they are using and pay the coins to the table. The event organizer will come by and collect spent coins periodically. Here is a list of "cheats" that will be available to use during the event:

1 coin – Reroll one die on any attack, damage or skill check roll
1 coin – Raffle ticket for Hardcover of Vengeance
2 coins – Reroll one attack or damage roll
10 coins – Warbeast does not frenzy, fury is still removed. Use before rolling warbeast’s frenzy check.
10 coins – Caster immediately gains 2 Focus which can immediately be allocated, this does not increase their Focus stat. Use only once per turn.
10 coins – When assassinated, instead of leaving table, remain at table and redeploy. NOTE: player will still suffer the ½ control point penalty.
15 coins – Play with D6 extra points at the table. Once assassinated, players must repay to be able to use this “cheat’ again.
15 coins – Place 4 walls anywhere on the table. Walls will remain in play all day.
20 coins – Ignore the ½ Control Points penalty when assassinated.
30 coins – If playing a Hordes faction, play with one out of faction non-character warbeast all day. Warbeast becomes friendly faction model that is part of your warlock’s battlegroup. Gargantuans costs 10 extra coins.
30 coins- If playing Warmachine faction, play with one out of faction non-character warjack all day. Warjack becomes friendly faction model that is part of your warlock’s battlegroup. Colossals costs 10 extra coins.
50 coins – If playing a Hordes faction, play with one out of faction character warbeast all day. Warbeast becomes friendly faction model that is part of your warlock’s battlegroup.
50 coins – If playing Warmachine faction, play with one out of faction character warjack all day. Warjack becomes friendly faction model that is part of your warlock’s battlegroup.

I have received a couple of questions about how rules will be played during the event:
Q: Will warjacks leave wreck markers throughout the day?
A: In the interest of not having difficult terrain everywhere after 6+ hours of play, warjacks will not leave wreck markers.
Q: Will there be any prize support?
A: We will be giving out Steamroller coins to the top 3 players in Control Points at the end of the day. We will also have a prize for biggest contributor and the person with the most assassinations. For us locals at CFG, Heath has said he will donate some chess clocks if we hit a certain number of cans donated.

**EDIT** Due to scheduling conflicts, I had to change the event to April 13th. I apologize to anyone if this is an inconvenience.
