Deities: I will also outline Vamir, my character's diety
Avara NG Goddess of Nature:
Avara, Guardian of the Land, is one of the most prominent of the followers of Allura. As a deity of nature, she comes into direct contact with the denizens of the Far Realm known as the Fae more often than most of the gods. Once a kind being, she has become weary of battle and distant, swinging from utter aloofness to intensely violent rages, a fact reflected in the increasing harness of the wilds in recent centuries; however, she remains a steadfast warrior in the battles, using the followers of primal paths and the beasts of the land to fight on her behalf.
Her followers tend to be those who choose to live absent civilization, druids, rangers, and the like; however, she is also worshiped by those who live far from civilized lands, in isolated villages still best by the wilds and by those who wish to keep her fury at bay. Curiously, she is among the only Gods in Terrestia who can claim any Elven worshipers at all. To the extent that they have abandoned their Fae heritage, some few Elves have chosen to follow her rather than wander without guidance in the world. Many of them become special servants who carry out her will, and through it the will of the Gods in general, in the places where her people have otherwise no influence. Her church maintains little in the way of formal doctrine; it is a religion that sprang from the land and follows its cycles. The central festivals are associated with the changes of the seasons. The heights of summer and winter are days for violent dancing and feasting, for reasons largely unknown to her worshippers..
Among the other Gods, Avara has become close with the Lord of the Sun, for obvious reasons. Less clear, however, is her close association with the God of War and Vamir, the Masked God. As a constant warrior, she has found the aid and information of these two gods indispensable in her efforts to keeps the uncivilized places of the world under her control.
Forseth LG God of Civilization
A polar opposite of Avara, Forseth, rarely has direct dealings with the Fae. Concerned with the masses of sentients who live in the world of cities and kingdoms, his concerns are laws and codes, both between men and gods. As such, he is the most familiar with the mortal creations of the Gods, choosing to dwell among them from time to time. After completing the span of a mortal life, he departs, leaving the city enriched and considerably more prominent. Many of the great capitals of the mortal races can be traced to an early dwelling place of the God.
Forseth is the follower of many trade, but the master of none. Different from the other followers of Kolos, he does not focus on the mastery of one skill to the exclusion of all others. Instead he is interested in the relationship between them, how all the skills when combined make the conditions for mortal civilization. As a result, he is a consummate merchant and city organizer, having a conception of the ebb and flow of civilization beyond mortal ken.
His followers tend to be those who live in the largest of cities or in the center of great kingdoms. Despite his serious demeanor, his worship is best described as the joyful interactions of the city, the panoply of life together. His churches are large and wealthy, though oddly shaped. Often comprised of tall separate buildings linked by wide bridges – feats of engineering in themselves – the faithful gather to marvel at the view and interact with each other. The church’s festivals are not standardized like most other faiths. Instead, Forseth encourages people to engage in their city or kingdom’s important civic holidays.
Forseth is most closely aligned with other neutral gods who interact with mortals. The other so-called craft gods – the forge, the woodworker, the magical artisan – are his closest friends and allies.
